Komatik Fun!

Uncle John and Aunt Don flew in last night for their Christmas visit...they spent the day with us today (Uncle John doing some fixin' around the house).....and well Aunt Don supervised! hehehe After lunch Uncle John, the kids, and I headed outside to enjoy what was leftover from the storm yesterday...first we started by making a "fort" in the backyard.....

Then Uncle John asked if we had a sled...I said no, I could go get one....he said, where's your Komatik? I said it's behind the shed....so he trudged through the snow and dug it out.....

What is a Komatik you ask? It is a long sled, adopted in northern Newfoundland for winter travel and hauled by dogs or sometimes men; sled for hauling wood; Eskimo Sled.

This sled was built for me by my grandfather (Jimmy Vincent) and I've had it for 34 years or more! I think the sled has held up quite nicely considering its age....we did have a few looks as we were travelling around the neighbourhood with it! :-)

The boys had a great time and a great ride going over to Timmies for some treats. The only problem is that Uncle John was running with them....so you know what that means, the next time they are on it and I'm the one pulling them, they will expect me to be running as well! :-(
