What's that in your Eye?

I hate SAND...and I always have. I went to pick CJ up at day care yesterday and I found out that CJ had sand thrown in his face, they tried to clean him up but he was having no part of the staff touching him (that's not surprising). When we got home he kept rubbing it, so I asked him to come over so I could take a look at it...I saw there was lots of sand still in there and wasn't sure how to flush it so I took him to a walk-in. When I got to the walk-in I said to the receptionist, can you flush eyes? If not, you don't need to register us, I'll take him elsewhere. She said the doctor on tonight is actually an eye specialist, so I was quite pleased with that! The doctor has to freeze his eye to flush out the sand, so far there doesn't appear to be any scratches and he thinks we got it all....the doctor was surprised how much sand came out and couldn't get over how well CJ was with letting him freeze his eye, etc. He said most kids are terrible at freezing their eye and they usually have to use an anesthetic to get it done. CJ was like, "That HURTS!!!" in a kind of growl and then continued on talking to the doctor about how it didn't make sense that he had sand in his eye! The doctor agreed that it didn't make sense that he had sand in his eye (the doctor looked at me and said you have one smart boy there!). The doctor said in 10 years of practice he never had a child that was so good for him! We were back at the walk-in this morning for a follow-up visit and the doctor said everything looks great and he said he told his wife last night about CJ and at how well he behaved! I was so proud! :-)
