Tubes Update....

Well it's been a while since I've talked about the boys and their tubes. We've continued to have follow-up appointments with the ear specialist since their surgery and everything has been going along well. Yesterday Kai had his follow-up appointment and.....

He's got to have a second surgery...the tube is out in one ear and now he's got a moderate hearing loss in that ear again and the other ear the tube is still in but it's blocked (not with fluid), it's like when you are coming down in a plane and you need to swallow, but Kai can't clear it....so it means another surgery to replace the tubs an to take his adenoids (CJ had his adenoids removed the first time)......So it's not a major surgery, just minor, but I hate it when they are coming out of the anesthetic cause they look so lifeless.....

The surgery has been scheduled for April 22nd (which is a little surprising because usually you have to wait 6-8 months, but the doctor felt we needed to proceed quickly). We have a "follow-up" appointment on April 7th, if things are the way they are now then the surgery will go ahead, if things have improved then he will wait a little bit longer.....so we'll see...

Is it common for the tubes to come out like that? It seems I've heard of that before. It must be so hard to watch your baby having surgery. We'll keep all of you in our prayers.

Not uncommon for the tubes to come out...especially since they are so youg and growing so much. They are taking the adenoids this time because apparently if you remove them with the 2nd surgery, there is less chance of needing a 3rd surgery....or so the doctor said! :-)
