This little pinkie!

The New Year is off to a big start! :-)

I get a phone call yesterday from the day care, Kai has really hurt his finger you need to come and take him to the hospital. Ok, I"m on my way. As I'm heading up the stairs my cell phone is ringing, "It's worse than we thought, we will meet you at the hospital." "Ok." The little guy had his pinkie shut in a big wooden door and it was partially severed. The doctor first thought that he might lose the tip, however, once they did the x-rays, etc. there was no damage to the bone and stuff so they stitched him back up. So it's back to the emerg tomorrow morning to make sure there's no infection and then it's off to the plastic surgeon to ensure that he's got full movement, etc. Wow, what a way to start the year!

However, he's been a little trooper! Slept through last night, at home today with daddy and apparently clapping his hands! Laughing and playing! Way to go Kai!

CJ note - the other night as we were doing our bedtime story, CJ decided he was going to read it tonight. So he opens their bible and says, "Glory to the Lord Jesus!" And then mumbles on about something else. Then we realize he's saying his prayers, "God bless mommy, daddy, nana, poppy, all my brothers and sisters, family and friends, Amen!"

Last night I ran out for a bit and daddy was on monitor watch once the kids went to bed. CJ was still awake after 9:00 p.m. and all daddy heard coming through the monitor was clapping. So daddy went to investigate, he opens CJ's bedroom door, CJ turns his head and pretends he's asleep! He wouldn't open his eyes the whole time Greg was in the room! Funny!

I'll post some pictures of Kai with his hand all bandaged up once I get some. He's quite cute walking around with his hand in the air!

Oh my goodness! How terrifying for all of you. I'm glad it's looking good for Kai. I hope he's feeling better soon.

And I love the CJ stories too. Hilarious.

Barry mentioned yesterday that you were gone to the emerg with one of the kids.... I could not get him up early enough to find out what happened that you would have to take him to emergency! Glad to hear that all is well again. Kids often bounce back more quickly than the parents do. Fortunately, he will never remember the pain of yesterday, but unfortunately you will never forget it....
