wouldn't want too many like this! :-)
Kai's finger still had stitches in it and everyone was commenting on that they should be gone by now (it's three weeks tomorrow). I called Tele-Health last night and the nurse also thought they should be gone by now and said something isn't right I should take him back to the doctor. So this morning I got up bright and early and took him back to emerg (because they would have all the records and know what they used). The nurse at triage also said, yep they should be gone now. Usually 5-7 days. So the doctor came and took a look and removed the stitches. He said they've seen it in some kids where they just don't dissolve. So Kai's hand no longer has stitches and now he just needs a fingertip bandage to protect his fingernail (likely will fall off in a couple of days).
Well, you say that wasn't overly exciting. Your right. I went back to the house and picked up CJ to take both boys to the day care. We were driving down Highbury and there's fire trucks coming up behind us so I say to CJ, "When we see trucks like this we need to pull over because they have an emergency they need to get to and we need to let them get through." CJ says, "Where are they going?" To which I respond, "I don't know, they are going to help someone." We come up to the corner where the day care is and find that all the fire trucks have pulled onto the Village property. Ok, so the hoses and everything were out, so I'm thinking, ok, definitely not a false alarm then.
I pull into the quarters driveway because I can't get into the Village driveway (due to all the fire trucks). I'm thinking what do I do now? Where do I take the boys? One fire truck pulls out of the way, so I go back and pull into the Village driveway. A fireman is walking so I pull up to him and say, "Where's the situation?" He said in one of the back buildings. I'm like ok, the day care is in the back buildings. So I said, "do you know specifically which one? I'm about to drop my kids off for day care. 5 or 6?" He said, "I think 4." So I pull ahead and said to the boys, "I'll take you to 6 first CJ and find out what's going on." When I did I found out that they had evacuated Kai's building (5) and everyone was in the preschool building (6). I don't have any further details. But that was the start to our day! How was yours? :-)
CJ story from yesterday:
Kim caught CJ hitting his friend. Kim said to CJ, "CJ, we don't use our hands, we need to use our words." CJ's reply, "Hold on, you need to know what happened. You need to come sit on the couch." (Kim said if kids are having a rough day she will quite often ask them to sit on the couch with her and she talks to them about using their words and not their hands, etc.) So Kim said, "OK" and went with CJ to the couch. He looks at her and says, "______ pushed me, so I pushed him back. And you just needed to know what happened." Kim said, "Ok, CJ, but we still need to use our words and not our hands." To which he replied, "Yes Kimmy, I'm sorry." Ok, so what do you do with that? I laughed!
