Prayer Quilt

This happened a little while ago, but I don't think I blogged it yet. Anyway, when the corps did the adoption shower back in March/April (can't remember the actual date) they gave both boys a paryer quilt.

For those of you that don't know the prayer quilt has strings on it that people tie a knot in when they say a prayer for the person receiving the quilt. Anway, I had CJ's quilt on the foot of the bed in his room. I went in one day and noticed that all the strings had been removed from the part of the quilt that was exposed (ie. the top half). I asked mom if she removed them because we had talked about removing some of them in the picture and keeping them around the edge so that the picture (Noah's ark) could be seen better. To which she replied that she hadn't been upstairs and certainly hadn't removed any of the strings.

I thought this was strange because there were no strings around the floor and I couldn't find any evidence that CJ had done this. I should also mention that the quilt is acutally on the foot of Kai's bed (which Kai doesn't sleep in yet cause he is still in his crib). So I went looking around the room, I pulled open the drawers under CJ's bed (it's a mates bed) and there they were. All nicely formed in a pile in one of the drawers under his bed. Obviously CJ had pulled the strings out of the quilt but I guess he didn't want to lose the "prayers" so he decided to keep them and put them neatly in one of the drawers under his bed.

Yep, I think I need to get one of those monitors that has a camera in the child's room so that I can see what he is up to. Surprisingly enough I never heard any of this when it was happening, so he must have done it very quietly. I wonder what else he does at night! :-)

Chelsea has a beautiful prayer quilt too which was done by the ladies of New Creation Group at the Corps that we attend. Chelsea's is more of a patchwork quilt.... I had not heard of anyone else who had a prayer quilt until your post about CJ and Kai.

The group at our church is called Prayers and Squares. I'll have to post a picture of the quilt. I just have to dig it out (the picture not the quilt)! :-)
