Yeah, CJ was able to have surgery! Yippee!!! I was a little apprehensive how he was going to respond. The nurse said to me as we were registering him, that when he wakes up from the anesthetic, if he is refusing to drink I can assert my parental authority and force him to drink, they prefer that to them having to hold him down and force him. So I was like, "Ok, I'll do my best." They wheeled him away to the operating room and CJ says, "Bye mom." I said, "I'll be waiting right here for you." He didn't look back.
Grammie and I were in the waiting area, the doctor comes and says everything went smoothly. The nurse comes to get us and take us to the recovering room. We go in, CJ is sitting in the nurse's lap, you can tell he had been crying. I pick him up and he cuddles. We then get moved over to post-op about 1/2 hr later and he continues to cuddle. The nurse offers a drink of Apple Juice, CJ willingly takes it and asks for another. He willingly drinks this one down and asks again for another. The nurse just looks at me and I just shrug my shoulders. I looked at Grammie and said, "I"m glad I had to assert my parental authority to get him to drink!" In total CJ had four apple juices, four popsicles, and a jello and was asking for more. I said to him, "CJ this isn't a buffet!" Needless to say we got to go home early due to his good behaviour.
We have kept him home over the weekend only because of having his adenoids removed he is more susceptible to infection and that it what the concern is. He is running around playing, like nothing ever happened. Here is a picture from after surgery! :-)
