Tough Questions....

I thought the tough questions came when they were teenagers! Tonight Kai was having a bath and he was talking about babies and them being in their mommy's belly. I told him once before that he wasn't in my belly that he was in another woman's belly. He seemed to have remembered this and he said, "Mommy, when I was in someone else's belly, how did you get me?" I tried to explain to him that when he was born (didn't explain that process) that he was brought to me from the hospital. For the time being he was satisfied with that....

As much as we are very open about the fact that they are adopted.....I know some of these questions are hard for a four year old to understand. I can imagine some of the conversations at day care, especially with staff having babies and the kids knowing there's a baby in there, which is what prompted the original question about Kai being in my belly. Anyway, I just hope as the questions come that I have the right answers.

Sounds like you said the right thing Sue-Ann, not too little and not too much.
Always love seeing the pictures and watching your boys grow.

i always wonder how i'll handle such questions when they arise. i'm hoping that having the boys' birthparents in their lives will make things a little easier.

My sister was adopted when I was 10...one of the greatest thrills of my life. My Dad use to say to my biological sister and I "We had to take you two, we had no choice, but your sister was CHOSEN!"

We knew what he meant.

We get the Wisdom for answers to these tough questions from the man upstairs. You handled it very well....and at age 4, they don't like to wait too long for an answer in my experience. LOL
